Gordon Affleck is a founding Design Partner with IO. Gordon is an award winning designer with almost 20 years of professional experience leading international design teams in the Middle East, Asia and the UK.
His award winning work ranges from the design of large scale water front master planning, complex mixed use projects, civic and retail environments, through to boutique luxury residential/hospitality developments and bridges.
His built work includes one of the largest developments of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the China National Convention Centre, and the sustainable R&D Headquarter building for Huawei in Nanjing.
In Asia he is currently leading the teams for both the planning and architectural design for the Danzishi Central Business District in Chong Qing and the Kowloon Bay Development in Weihai. His design for the Shizimen International Convention Complex including the 320m high "transforming" tower is due for completion in 2015.
In the Middle East, he has led the design of a number of lifestyle and destination master plans in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Currently he is completing 3 master plan commissions in the region totaling some 200 hectares of development. The most recent the Al Barari Development in Dubai is now under construction.
His work has been published in numerous publications including amongst others the Architects Journal, World Architecture, Wall Paper, Mark Magazine and Architect.
Gordon has served as judge for both Urban and Architectural Design Awards including the World Architecture Urban Design Awards and the Perspective Magazine Design Awards, he has spoken at events such as Cityscape in London discussing the impact of the Olympic Games.
Miriam Au Yeung is a Partner with IO and has over 17 years of professional experience. Prior to IO, Miriam was Director for one of the world's prominent architectural practices.
Previously working as Project Manager for landmark civic buildings such as the China National Convention Center in Beijng and large scale infrastructure projects for MTRC and KCRC then in Hong Kong.
Miriam is also familiar with statutory submission requirements and procedures of China projects, including preparation of schematic design and preliminary design documentation, being able to make necessary arrangements for good coordination, liaison and negotiations prior to obtaining official approvals of submissions from government authorities.
Her project portfolio across a wide spectrum enables her to effectively handle daily project administrations and coordination with consultant team, schedule works for design staff, conduct programme control of design and project management, undertake necessary planning, and monitoring of project progress and budget estimate.
Miriam's extensive professional qualifications in Asia (AP, HKIA, PRC Class 1 RA and PRC Green Building Label Manager) have provided her with significant expertise in client liaison, design and project management of highly complex projects.
David Pringle has worked in China for 20 years. He has extensive experience in the management and organisation of large architectural practices in Asia and the establishment of three companies in China. Prior founding 10 DESIGN, David was CEO Asia and the Middle East, and was responsible for 600 staff across 6 offices.
As CEO at 10 DESIGN, his responsibilities include practice management and marketing, David also has an overall responsibility for all projects, ensuring successful performance and technical delivery.
As Partner at lO, Doris brings good market sensibility and business acumen with more than 10 years of experience in the building industry. With a strong focus in China market, Doris has established a proven record of success in procuring business opportunities in the fields of urban design, architectural design, and landscape design.
Her expertise with Chinese customers is rooted in the comprehension of cultural differences and the awareness of the intricate balance between design and development objectives. Having collaborated with a large clientele of government bodies and notable developers, Doris is able to identify the circumstances and requirements of various development types to ensure the efficient work flow between design team and client.
Doris is committed to act as a liaison between IO's outstanding capability and China's vast market capacity. She aspires to strengthen the bilateral dialogue by providing optimal business development solutions to foster a mutual vision.
Chris Jones has over 15 years of international experience on major projects in the Middle East, Asia, the UK, and the US. He has lived and worked in New York, London, Istanbul, Dubai and Edinburgh.
Prior to joining 10 DESIGN, Chris was Managing Principal of the Middle East region for one of the largest architectural practices in the world.
Chris has extensive experience of the design, delivery and management of projects across all stages. These include mixed-use developments, master planning, residential, retail, commercial, education and civic projects. He has worked with a wide variety of clients including local authorities, government bodies, University and College trusts to private international developers.
Chris also has significant experience in the education sector and has worked on numerous projects for academic institutions with experience in large scale campus master planning, stand alone faculty buildings and support facilities.
Chris has recently secured and project directed a number of high profile projects in Turkey including the Ataşehir Meridian Park & Entertainment Hub in Istanbul ; Gap İnşaat Office Tower in Istanbul; Ataşehir Metropol Retail Development in Istanbul; Eskişehir Masterplan in Ankara; and Mavişehir Residential Development in Izmir.
Nick Cordingley has over 17 years of international experience and has lead the design and delivery of large scale complex projects across a diverse array of sectors throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
Amongst his many built projects, most notably is the Wuhan Greatwall Complex - a world class office development in China, which is currently pre-certified for LEED Platinum. Other landmark office works which are currently on the drawing board include International Commercial Centre in the Jinwan Aviation City of Zhuhai, China, Government Headquarters and Administration Buildings also in the same district, and Haisco Headquarters in Chengdu, China.
At present, two of Nick's projects are under construction with anticipated construction completion by 2017. These are the 225,000sqm high-end marina front residential development in Dubai and Huawei Headquarters in Dubai Internet City.
Nick's expertise also extends to include hospitality and tourism projects. A selection includes the 1,700 seat theatre at a flagship venue in Dubai; urban-living destination in Dubai; leisure and entertainment development in Muscat; 350 room five-star hotel with 80 service apartment units in Doha; MIXC Gourmet - Food World in Shenzhen, China. Nick is currently working with The Hong Kong Jockey Club in Hong Kong.
In Europe, Nick has also led the design of numerous education campuses. Most notably are the 30,000 sqm Office and Laboratory Building - Cambridge Biomedical Campus and the implementation of 30,000 sqm of academic buildings for the University of Hertfordshire.
Nick is a member of the RIBA and ARB.
Ted Givens' work has won over 20 AIA awards, the most recently being a 2011 Hong Kong AIA Merit Award for the Dalian Public Library Competition in China.
Ted is a Design Partner as well as a Leader of the Environmental Research Group with IO. Research, design innovation, and collaboration are key drivers behind his work. Recent explorations include a building skin that purifies the air, a collapsible tornado proof suburb, and an algae-powered mushroom farm.
Ted and his team have recently implemented some of the experimental green strategies developed by the Research Group in the 550,000 sqm Fujian Professional Photonic Technical College in China, which is due for opening in the summer of 2015. Ted and his team recently won a 2013 HKIA Cross Strait Architectural Design Merit Award for the project.
Ted has also led the design for a number of landmark mixed use projects, of which the following developments are currently under construction. They are Lanyue Bay Convention Centre and Mixed Use Development in Changzhou; Bohai Bank in Tianjin; Yabao Hi-Tech Enterprises Headquarters in Shenzhen; and The Gateway Residential Development in Kuala Lumpur.
Ted has been actively lecturing about the concept of "Beyond Neutrality" at universities and conferences such as The University of Hong Kong, Tongji University, and AIA Archifest in Shanghai.
He also hosted an international sustainability design competition, "Re-Thinking Shanghai 2012" with a key objective to push and enhance the sustainable dialog in Asia.
Ted's award winning projects and advanced research have received extensive press in publications such as the Boston Globe, ABC News, Forbes, FRAME, MARK, eVolo, Wallpaper, Fast Company, South China Morning Post, and many other paper and digital sources.
Kate Geary is the Director of People and Culture with 10 DESIGN. She has a passion for People, Culture and Diversity that has accumulated over her 15 years of international experience in HR and Talent management. She has lived and worked in Sydney, London and Hong Kong.
Kate completed her studies in Sydney and holds a degree in Advanced Science (mathematics of management), a diploma of secondary education (mathematics) and an advanced diploma in business management.
Prior to 10 DESIGN, Kate was the Resource and Operations Manager across Asia for one of the world's largest architectural practices. During her time with this practice she was instrumental in the establishment of a professional recruitment structure for Asia, and played an integral part in driving forward global centralisation of recruitment processes and talent management across the practice.
In 2010, she was one of the first employees at 10 DESIGN and has since played an important role in the establishment and growth of the company globally. Based in Hong Kong and overseeing our 5 studios located in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Edinburgh, Dubai and City of Miami Beach, she is responsible for all areas of Human Resources globally as well as the operational management of the studios.
With over 19 years of experience in Asia, Ross Milne has a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver a quality project and strides to encourage innovative solutions to challenges posed by tight programmes and budgetary constraints using the latest available construction technology.
Prior founding 10 DESIGN, Ross was Managing Director of one of the largest architectural practices in the world, responsible for the project and financial management of three offices with over 275 staff.
Ross' current role as Chief Operating Officer at 10 DESIGN is to focus on design management and delivery of projects, working closely with the Design Partners.
Barry Shapiro has over 21 years of experience and has been involved with the design and construction of major projects in China, the United States and Southeast Asia.
Barry has almost a decade of experience living and working in China. Currently, he is a Partner with IO in Shanghai, where he is responsible for the design and management of the practice's work in the China office.
Barry has extensive experience carrying out projects from concept to detailed design. He has worked with major local, government and international developers and clients throughout China. His experience includes mixed-use developments, master planning, retail spaces, commercial headquarters, residential complexes, and civic buildings.
His current projects include the New Jiangwan Office Park in Shanghai, which is due for completion in 2014, as well as Yunnan Hotel and ChangchengHui Mixed Use Development in Wuhan, both of which are anticipated to be built in 2015.
Ian Milne, Design Partner at 10 DESIGN, has been practicing architecture globally since 1988 and has been based in Hong Kong, in a Design Director role, since 2005. He has completed projects in China, South East Asia, India, Middle East and Europe. These have included projects located in over twenty cities across China and over ten further countries in Asia.
Ian does not have a fixed design style and believes that each design should be a unique reflection of his client’s aspirations as well as the project’s cultural, physical and climatic context. Using this tailored methodology, he has led the design of many award winning commercial projects. These have ranged in size to well over one million square meters (GFA). They have included office, hotel, residential functions, often as part of a mixed use complex. His work on mixed-use developments has extended into their integration with transport facilities (TOD). A number of his projects have also included super high-rise towers, the tallest built example being 460m in height. Finally, In a separate stream to work, Ian has led the design of a number of major Airport Terminals in the UAE, India and China.
Ian would summarize his approach to leading design as a collaborative one that is aimed at taking visionary ideas through to their full potential as completed buildings. His goal is for these completed buildings to bring his clients both financial reward and great personal pride.
Paul Rodgers is a Design Director with IO and has extensive experience working for major international practices globally. Prior to IO, Paul was International Design Principal for one of the largest architectural practices in the world.
Paul has worked in a wide range of sectors including commercial, residential, education, master planning and infrastructure-related projects, with particular emphasis on concept design and its implementation. He has spent 20 years designing projects in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America.
Paul’s experience in the education sector includes the University of Edinburgh, the Robert Gordon University and University of St Andrews in the Higher Education sector and Carnegie College and Newcastle College in the Further Education sector. Paul has extensive understanding of major campus developments.
Paul’s current work includes a 50,000 sqm high end residential project, a 1,500,000 sqm mixed use masterplan and the design of a major hotel and retail destination in the Middle East.
Paul has lectured and taught at the University of Dundee.
Michael Grimshaw is a Director with IO in Hong Kong and has over 20 years of International experience and has been involved with the design and construction of major projects in Europe, the Middle East, China, and Southeast Asia. He has lived and worked in Paris and Hong Kong for the last 16 years.
Prior to IO, Michael was Associate Director for the HK Office for an international US architectural practice, where he was responsible for the design and execution of the firms projects in the Middle East, China and Asia. He has worked with the major local and international developers and government bodies. His experience includes master planning, mixed-use developments, commercial headquarters, residential complexes, hospitality, transportation and civic buildings.
Michael's key projects include the recently completed 450,000sqm Taikoo Hui mixed-use development and Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Guangzhou for Swire Properties; Cyberport mixed-use development in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong SAR Government; Communications and Technology Center in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Jockey Club; the 2,000 room City of Dreams integrated resort in Macau for Melco/PBL; and the 3.4million sqm Lulu island Master plan, Abu Dhabi for Sorouh Real Estate.
Currently, he is working on a one million sqm residential & retail development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and a 760,000 sqm mixed use commercial development in Guiyang, China.
Michael was educated at the University of Cambridge, UK and is a member of the RIBA and ARB UK.
Catherine graduated from urban planning and completed her studies in interior design in Canada. After that, she worked as a trainee with a Canadian property development company, through which she has exposed to multi-facets of the real estate industry.
In 2000, she brought her experience to Hong Kong and joined a prominent international architectural firm as Head of Marketing, building the division from a 2 man team to a strong team of 12, responsible for the Asia and the Middle East markets. For Public Relations, she raised the Company's coordinates with the Company's 13 overseas offices and the parallel activities of the UK offices.
In 2010, Catherine together with 8 Partners set up IO, leading the Company in her specialist area including Marketing, Branding, Public Relations & Communications.
Chin Yong Ng (CY), Retail Director at 10 DESIGN, has over 16 years of architectural experience throughout China and South East Asia. He specializes in the design and delivery for large scale regional destinations with a focus on retail.
CY and his team are developing the most forefront retail typology for China Resources to meet the fast growing retail market in China. In addition, he heads up the Architectural Interiors Team, providing a complementary approach to the current Retail Design Team.
He plays an instrumental role in winning international design competitions across China. Most notably are the Changde Waterfront Masterplan in Hunan; MixC Ningbo Retail Mall, Yao Jia Yuan Co-working Office in Beijing, Huafa International Gold Coast Garden; and Huafa Financial Island ICC Hengqin.
Prior to joining 10 DESIGN, he led the design for a number of landmark projects including R&F Princess Cove in Johor Bahru, Malaysia; China Resources Dreamport Mall in Beijing; Horoy UniTown in Longhua, China; Huafa Zhuhai Open Air Retail in China; LVGEM Mixed Development in Shenzhen, China; and Excellent Meilin Mall in Shenzhen.
Vincent Fung, Technical Director at 10 DESIGN, has over 26 years of experience in project design, management and delivery in Asia and the Middle East. He has the capability to handle every single stage of a project, from concept design through to construction. Vincent also has significant design experience in various sectors including residential, office, commercial complex, hotels, super high-rise towers, mixed-use development, as well as sport stadium and healthcare facilities.
In Asia, Vincent has been involved in the delivery of super high-rise towers such as International Commerce Centre at Kowloon Station in Hong Kong and Shanghai Wheelock Square in China. Office buildings like Greatwall Complex in Wuhan, Poly Business Centre in Foshan & China Merchants Bank Headquarters in Shanghai are already in use. Subsequent to Shizimen Central Business District Phase 1 International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Vincent is currently working on Phase 2 of this mixed use development.
In addition to hospitality designs in Asia such as Nansha Sheraton Hotel located in Guangzhou, China, Vincent has taken part in the design of similar building typology in the Middle East. Notably Zabeel House by Jumeirah Venu Hotels at Marsa Al Sseef, Dubai, UAE – two hotels in close proximity to one another.
Vincent also has considerable experience in residential building designs both in Asia and the Middle East, either already completed or under construction. Ocean Shores at Lot No. 55 in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong has over 5,000 apartment units fully occupied whereas Bluewaters Residential Development in Dubai, UAE is currently under construction.
Peby Pratama is Design Director at 10 DESIGN. He has worked with several international architectural firms on numerous design developments ranging from residential, commercial, mixed used buildings, and master plans internationally including the Middle East and Asia. Being surrounded in a creative and fast paced working environment, he has developed an exceptional computation design and concept design skills.
Currently in Asia, Peby is the lead designer of the winning entry for the 950,000 sqm Pingsha New Town masterplan competition, a 375,000 sqm International Seacoast Garden mixed use development in China, as well as the 143,000 sqm 4th Road mixed use development in Zhuhai, China which will begin construction by late 2018.
Peby’s South East Asia experience extends across Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, designing and delivering numerous commercial and residential projects in the region.
Florence Kong is Partner, Finance with lO.
Prior lO, Florence was Regional Financial Controller of a prominent architectural practice, responsible for managing the finance function across Asia and leading and supervising the finance teams located in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore and Bangkok.
Florence commenced her career in the Audit Division of Arthur Andersen, one of the former Big Five accounting firms in the world, and has gained substantial commercial experiences in the Finance and Group Audit and Management Services Departments of the New World Services Group, a Hong Kong-listed conglomerate.
Florence is fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants in UK.
Scott Findley is a Design Partner with IO and has over 36 years of experience in the design of significant buildings, of which the last 18 have been spent in Asia.
Prior to the launch of IO, Scott was Design Director and International Design Principal responsible for the design leadership and vision for the Asia region of a large international firm.
Scott was responsible for leading design of award winning civic, education and residential developments, including Shenzhen University Library, The Chinese University High Risk Laboratory in Hong Kong, The Yanlord Peninsula Residence in Suzhou, The Evian Town Villas in Suzhou, and the Shekou Mont Orchid Development.
Scott also led the development of the hospitality and leisure sector. Most notably, he directed and designed one of the largest mixed-use buildings in the world; a 6,500 guestroom integrated resort in Macau, with over 1.1 million sqm of accommodation.
His current work which is due for completion in 2014 includes the West Tai Lake Renaissance Hotel and Mixed Use Development in Changzhou and the New Jiangwan Office Park in Shanghai. He is also directing the design for the Meridian Park and Entertainment Hub in Istanbul.
Scott is a licensed practicing architect in the US and holds a B Arch from the University of Nebraska, and an M Arch Degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Environmental Design under the tutelage of Professor Gerald McCue. He is a member of The Design Futures Council, and past president of The Architectural Foundation of Nebraska. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of the Architecture and Planning Master Degree Program at the University of Colorado.
Javier Perea is Director at 10 DESIGN in Edinburgh Studio and has over 16 years of international experience leading the development and delivery of large scale projects across a diverse array of sectors throughout Europe, Middle East, and Asia. He has a strong technical background, a well-developed business sense, always challenge driven, and proficient in bringing together concept, craft, and construction.
Prior to joining 10 DESIGN, Javier was responsible for the design and construction of Cultural, Civic and infrastructure landmark projects such as 40,000 sqm CIDADE City of Culture in Galicia; 45,000 sqm IFEMA International Exhibition Center in Madrid; 15,000 sqm Cultural Center in Fuenlabrada; and 105,000 sqm New Airport Terminal Building in La Palma.
Javier’s expertise also extends to include mixed use, high-end residential, convention and hospitality. At present Javier is in charge of a 127,000 sqm International Convention Center in Zhuhai, China, a 200,000 sqm Mixed Use development including a 300 m high tower in Weihai, China, and a 38,000 sqm residential development in Dubai, UAE.
Kishor is a Director at IO. He graduated from the Dundee University in 1989 and has over 20 years architectural experience in India, the Middle East, and Asia.
He has directed the management and delivery of over 85 projects throughout the Middle East and India.
Kishor played an instrumental role as Project Team Leader for a number of highly acclaimed projects in the Middle East including the two Al Barari Residential Developments in Dubai, namely Seventh Heaven and Ashjar; both of which are currently under construction. Another flagship development Kishor project directed was the Saadiyat Island project in Abu Dhabi including the Masterplans for Marina District - Central Core Area and the Cultural Canal Integrated Commercial and Tourism Community.
In India, Kishor has led over 2,600,000 sqm BUA of projects including Badshahpur IT Park, Virender Gram Commercial Development, Nirvana Country II Espace Premiere Villas, and Karma Lakelands Group Housing. His most notable built projects are the Kolkata Airport Integrated Domestic and International Terminal, which has been in operation since January 2013, as well as the Kolkata Infospace Park Phase 1 - 3, built in 2012.
Rita Pang, Director at 10 DESIGN, has over 17 years of International experience including working on UK, Dubai, India, Hong Kong, Vietnam and China projects. Rita has participated in many projects from various sectors, from inception to construction stages, including overall master layout planning, luxurious low density residential, famous residential development in China and Dubai, Commercial Mixed Use developments, five stars Hotels, University in UK, School Improvement projects in HK and Bank headquarter, of which three of them are award winning projects.
Rita, graduated from Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, is both Registered Architect in Hong Kong and United Kingdom, and PRC Green Building Label Manager. Her international qualifications allow her to work on projects from different backgrounds and she is particularly familiar with the statutory submission requirements and procedures in PRC.
Lukasz Wawrzencyzk is Design Director at 10 DESIGN. He has over 13 years of professional experience throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. These include mixed-use developments, master planning, residential, retail, commercial, and civic projects as well as interior and landscape projects.
Lukasz is well experienced in project design and management on various large scale master planning, hotel, residential, retail, and commercial projects.
In the Middle East, he is an integral part of the design team for Satwa Gateway and the Saadiyat Island Cultural District – Residential Buildings in Abu Dhabi. This project is strategically positioned amongst three world-class museums – Zayed National Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. The residential project is developed within a 17 hectares retail complex.
Prior to joining 10 DESIGN, he was involved in the design for The Star cultural complex in Singapore. It offers the state of the art performance venue for an audience of 5,000 people in a floor space of 38,000 sqm and a retail space of 24,000 sqm on four levels. The enormous 5,000-seat auditorium, by far the largest such auditorium in Singapore, also supports religious facilities.
Lukasz is currently Project Architect for the International Business Centre in Zhuhai – with GFA 127,000 sqm of service apartments and office is designed to become a new landmark on the skyline of Jinwan Aviation City as well as an active and animated waterfront development at the northern end of Jinshan Lake.
In Turkey and Europe, Lukasz’s major experience include a large-scale integrated development project in the new financial center of Istanbul – Meridian Park & Entertainment Hub – which contains shopping, entertainment, and conference centers totaling over 600,000 sqm; a hotel and casino complex in France; and a mixed-use urban development in Bulgaria.
JASON EASTER is a Design Director with 10 DESIGN with 14 years of international design experience. He has provided design leadership for an array of projects throughout Southeast Asia, USA, Europe, and the Middle East.
His work spans a wide range of sectors including commercial, retail, mixed-use, civic, cultural, residential complex, hospitality and masterplanning projects where he has worked with the major local and international developers and government bodies.
In the past 8 years with 10 Design, Jason has been a key figure in the use of parametric tools within the architectural design process. He has focused this proficiency towards complex architectural geometries and facade design and development for several of 10 Design’s premier and large-scale projects.
Jason’s key projects include the Shizimen CBD Super-High-rise mixed-use tower in Zhuhai, China, which at 320 meter tall, was the world’s 10th tallest tower to complete construction in 2017. In the Dubai Bluewaters Island project, Jason led the façade design for the 10 Residential towers, 17 boardwalk townhouse units and 45,000 sqm of retail and amenities podium facades. Subsequently, he led the concept design for the premier island’s feature mosque located on the adjacent plot.
Currently, Jason is working on the façade design for a large-scale gaming and resort development in Macau, where the design will provide brand identity for the new development.
Jason received his bachelor‘s and master’s architecture degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and The University of Pennsylvania respectively, and is a U.S. registered architect and member of the AIA. His personal and professional design work has been published in numerous print and web publications including Mark, Frame, PRC, BCI Asia Insight, Archdaily and AAS Architecture among others.
David Emmer, Director at 10 DESIGN, has over 15 years of architectural experience designing and delivering projects in Germany, the Middle East and Asia.
David has worked in a diverse range of sectors from large scale mixed-use developments to bridge structures and entertainment venues with particular emphasis on concept design, design generation and its execution through later stages.
His work focuses on achieving sensible, contemporary and elegant design solutions for each individual project and client that can be successfully executed and withstand the test of time.
David and his team have won several international design competitions including the Infinity Loop Bridge and the Jinwan Cultural Island, both in Zhuhai, China.
A selection of his work in China includes a 360,000 sqm mixed-use iconic twin-tower development with hotel, residential and large retail component in Harbin, China; a 200,000 sqm office and innovation park in Zhuhai, China; a 2.5 million sqm New Town city plan and a school and infrastructure complex in the South of China.
In the UAE, he was one of the key designers for Bluewaters Residences development off the coast of Dubai Marina and Cirque Du Soleil in Dubai.
David studied architecture in Paris and Munich and achieved his Diploma in Architecture at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee. He is a registered architect in Germany and a member of the RIBA.
Sonja Stoffels, Director with 10 DESIGN, has over 15 years of design and project management experience across Asia, Middle East and the UK. Sonja has managed and worked in a variety of large scale projects including offices, cultural and convention facilities, leisure and mixed-used developments. As a project designer and manager, she has covered design stages from concept, scheme, to detail coordination and construction. Her broad experience and skills have enabled her to bring in valuable insights in the realization of a project from a concept to a building, through the collaboration of work with the client, architects and consultants.
In Asia, Sonja is currently working on several projects in China including Zhuhai Huafa Plaza Mixed Use Development, Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Centre Phase 2, and China Resources Sungang Mixed Use development in Shenzhen, to name a few. She has also managed a few other projects in China including the China Merchants Bank Campus in Chengdu and the Poly Business Center in Shunde which are now completed.
Apart from projects in China, she has also worked on the Al Seef Hospitality project by Meraas in Dubai, managing design and the day to day communications between consultants. Completed in 2017, the development provides two hotels and waterfront retails serving the booming tourism sector in Dubai.
Being educated and trained in the UK, her involvement in various UK projects including the Manchester City Art Gallery, Butterfield Park Innovation Centre, and the Hyde Park Serpentine Boathouse at her early years provided her a strong foundation in architectural design and management, which grows stronger throughout the years of her practice.
Edmond Lau joins 10 DESIGN as Director. With over 16 years of architectural practice, Edmond brings his extensive statutory knowledge and project management experience to the studio.
He is proficient in China building regulations and is familiar with China statutory submission and approval process. He had great successes in obtaining statutory approvals for a number of large scale and complex commercial developments throughout the country.
His project management experience gained from his former tenure at a well-respected property development organization offers in-depth knowledge and skills on project execution and realization.
Currently, his focus is on project administration of several mixed-use developments in China, ensuring design intent is well-coordinated with the consultant teams and close monitoring on design schedule and budget.
Edmond was educated at the University of New South Wales and is a member of the HKIA and PRC Green Building Label Manager.
