Chris Jones speaks at Bisnow London 2023 event
Last week, our Managing Principal Chris Jones took part in Bisnow's "Supercharging Urban Development" panel with Jay Squier from Native Land, Paul Clark from AustralianSuper and Lynn Smith from M&G Real Estate, chaired by Sally Morris-Smith from DAC Beachcroft LLP.
During the event, the panellists delved into strategies for creating liveable as well as profitable mixed-use schemes, The topics ranged from patient capital and diversification of income streams to public realm and community creation. The conversation also highlighted industry trends in these schemes, including net zero carbon, fossil fuel-free, retrofit and climate resilience.
Drawing upon 10 Design's global portfolio including New Town Quarter in Edinburgh as well as works in Asia and the Middle East, Chris stressed the importance of "adaptability and agility of masterplan to sustain changes" in market demand. Moreover, he mentioned the crucial role of architects and masterplanners in designing public spaces that cater to the community's needs, promoting the "joyfulness of spaces between the buildings."
